Sunday Support

Sunday Support

Our Sunday Service is made better by the support of our members in the following areas:

  • Greeter (in-person/online)
  • Usher Duties/ Collect offering/ Help serve Communion
  • Sanctuary Set up duty
  • Provide altar flowers
  • Serve as Worship Leader (read Scripture, Call to Worship, Announcements, etc.)
  • Volunteer for fellowship & coffee after worship on Sunday mornings
  • Join Choir
  • Provide special music in the summer or through-out the year as needed for Service for Special Events
  • Serve as a sound board technician on Sunday mornings or for special events
  • Be a backup for our AV person and run the projector during our Sunday morning service

The Green Team meets once a month to care for the gardens and the grounds around the church.

Bell Choir

Bell Choir

The group normally meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.  Those who can read music are invited to participate.  If interested contact the musical director Jonathan Carlisle, or administrative director Nita Standke.

Care Team

Care Team

The Care Team is a spiritual outreach providing assistance on a volunteer basis. As these are non-professional volunteers, no referrals or endorsement of resources are made on behalf of WHCC. The Pastor works confidentially with the Team to coordinate outreach efforts with the individual and/or family as needed. The Team is available to the congregation by:

  • Assisting with phone calling
  • Adding to the Prayer Chain upon request, with permission of the individual
  • Visitations to home and hospital, prayerful time as needed
  • Communication through the Sunday Bulletin or announcements
  • Can coordinate limited meal assistance
  • Transportation to church activities, if possible

Members of the Care Team include Zazel Whitney, Lyn Owen, Jeanne Mowers, Gina Low, Pam Eychner, Audrey Johnson, Signe Hardesty, Betsy Zentner, and Pastor Craig Peterson.

The Care Team meets on the second Sunday of the month from 12:00-12:45 PM in Smith Lounge.

Worship Team

Worship Team

The purpose of the Worship Team is to explore ways to make WHCC’s worship service more meaningful. The team meets on the last Sunday of the month from 12:00-12:45 PM in Smith Lounge. Questions?  Please contact Pastor Scott.

Participation is open to anyone who has an interest in helping shape the worship life at WHCC.  Current participants include Leni Brown, Jonathan Carlisle, Larry Moad, Pastor Scott Furukowa, Nita Standke, and Wayne Wilkins.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir

Chancel Choir rehearses every Thursday evening at 8pm in the Chapel under the direction of Anne Bell.  Anne is a member of our congregation and we are grateful to have her talent.

Chancel Choir sings once a month during the 10:00 am services each Sunday.  They typically sing one anthem and lead the congregation in the singing of the hymns. Our choir chooses exciting contemporary music and works to ensure the balance of each part. At Christmas and Easter, we present special music and usually have extra singers from the community join us.  In the summer, the Chancel Choir takes a break.  Individuals and small groups present special music during this time. Those who can carry a tune are welcome to join this fun, intimate group.
